SUMMER FIDDLE CAMP IN A RARE STYLE KNOWN AS GAAYAKI-ANG AUG '2009
The Violin is known worldwide to be the Queen of all Musical instruments, which has its origin from the West. But, there are many legends in the east connecting it to an ancient world from Sri Lanka and its ruler Ravana of the Mythological era of Ramayana. The Gaayaki-Ang style of Violin is about " Trying to emulate the human voice through the body of the instrument being played" Pioneered by one of the best ever Violinists to have ever played this lovely instrument, in the North Indian genre, Padmabhushan Dr.(Mrs) N. Rajam, emeritus Professor of Benaras Hindu University.
Dr. N. Rajam passed on this great heritage and lineage to a worthy disciple in Jagan Ramamoorthy, who is now based in Los Angeles, CA since 2002.
"Jagan Ramamoorthy is a daring creative artist who has not flinched an eyelid to capture a whole new genre of violinists and stunned them, with a tonality of a very special kind. His playing includes a rare ability to adapt to crossover projects and thus transcend the stylistic and traditional aspects of rigidity in his musical journey"...... Prof. Mark Menzies, CalArts string department Chair.

Sound vibration is of two kinds. Struck or agitated vibration and unstruck or un-agitated vibration. The Soul is often considered a 'Whole Tone' Aristotle called it a Harmony. Animals, tamed or wild, even children are charmed by sound. Sound is by nature Vibration and all that is, are vibrations. A whole tone: This kind of vibration is not due to any physical shock unlike the audible sounds. It is therefore called Anaahata, “Unstruck.” The other kind of sound is an “impermanent” vibration in the air, an image of ether - an identical vibration always exists within us, that we encounter outside in the cosmos. (Yat-pinde – Tad-Bramhaande) It is audible and is always produced by a shock. It is therefore called Aahata or “Struck”
